San Diego, CA - October 26, 2023 – Semantic AI, a leading provider of Enterprise Intelligence Platform (EIP) solutions, announced today the company’s President and Chief Strategy Officer, Jim Ford, has been invited to speak at the Enterprise Search & Discovery conference on November 7, 2023, at JW Marriott in Washington, D.C. As part of the three-person panel for the session titled “Metasearch: The Missing Element for Enterprise Search”, Ford will offer perspective on why people spend far more time searching for information than actually reading it.
Ford's segment will focus on the efficient and effective utilization of "access" vs. "acquire", for information and data, and how this approach can lead to creating insights that empower organizations’ actions, while respecting data rights, systems, and existing processes. Ford will also explore the integration of generative AI with domain knowledge, whether it be through ontologies, taxonomies, or comprehensive knowledge graphs.
“AI needs to be used to augment human intelligence and it needs to be interactive and accurate with provenance and pedigree of the assumptions clearly communicated to the users,” Ford explained. “Otherwise, it’s like asking your know-it-all, blowhard friend, who can't back up any of their facts, but sounds really confident in their response.”
As a twenty-year veteran U.S. Navy Intelligence officer, Ford has an extensive background in defense, intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced technologies, operations, and strategy. Prior to joining Semantic AI, he was Director, Microsoft Federal's Azure Solutions, where he led multiple teams in applying big data solutions to tactical and strategic problem sets throughout the Navy and Special Operations communities. Jim graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1996 and served the next twenty years in increasingly vital intelligence officer roles. Before retiring in 2016, he was awarded numerous military decorations including the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and over a dozen Joint and Service Commendation medals.
The "Metasearch: The Missing Element for Enterprise Search" session, to be held from 1:45 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. in Salon D of the Capitol Ballroom, will feature Ford alongside other presenters: Sid Probstein, President of Swirl, Inc., and Stin Mattu, Product Marketing Manager for Contact Center Products at Upland Software. Register today to attend the event.
